Paulina Bąk will welcome the group to the museum, and the meeting will be guided by Tess Rivarola, originally from Paraguay and now living in Seyðisfjörður.
This meeting will explore the theme of Smells & Stories. Together with Gemma Fornell Parra, participants will reflect on scents and the memories they carry: smells from childhood, scents we miss, and those that connect us to our lives and identities today.
Please bring one or two scents to share. This could be a spice, oil, cream, perfume, fruit, vegetable, or anything else you choose. As some participants will be attending for the first time, you are also invited to bring one object from your home country to help introduce yourself.
The Migrant Women’s Story Circles began in Austurland in February 2025 as part of the Sæhjarta project, through a collaboration between Tess Rivarola and Margaret Johnson. This will be the fifth gathering of the year.
The stories and sensory memories explored during these meetings will contribute to a collective storytelling event about home, migration, and belonging, planned for 20–26 September 2026.

This meeting is part of the project What Is Home?, supported by Menningarstofa Fjarðabyggðar, Sláturhús Art Center, and the East Iceland Development Fund.
